Lady in red

No need to elaborate as the title and photos speak for themselves. Sometime a picture is worth a couple of thousand words.

Casual flair

The ultra comfy wide legged white linen slacks were worn again and remixed with my boat neck top and a grey fitted hoodie.

I keep it simple and légère as well as factoring in comfortability when I sort avec les enfants qui vont salie les habits blancs de leur maman.

I do not lament these uncomfortable verités but I try to work with what I have to deal with and ultimately triumph as a maman chic. I succeed half the time: the rest of the time I am too busy wiping snot off of my tops or calming teary-eyed and sulky cry babies or attempting not to get all flustered and frustrated by their antics.

Enfin bref enough about the kids let's get on with more play on fashion and playing with fashion...that is why I created this blog : my attempt to have fun and escape drab reality and mundanity.

Bronze statue

I quite like this flowy and shapeless bronze dress which I breathed life into and baptised it bronze statue. I belted it to give my silhouette a shape and contour.

The dress would be a tunic if I had a longer torso and would require stockings, tights or capris as the case may be.

Day 8

Blue

I am not always so matchy-matchy but found my self in a blue floral dress with a blue bolero and blue scaly (reminiscent of fish scales) stockings.

My mood is the only thing that was not blue today.
Shrek takes forever to prendre un photo and I am usually so uncomfortble posing for so long in such ridiculous positions that I end up changing or pointing or directing or talking just as he clicks and the results are less flattering than I had hoped. Petit Suisse might be an amateur but Shrek with such a span of experience is still not better. They both need to improve their photo taking skills pronto.

Lazy Sunday

I put absolutely no effort into today's outfit because it was Sunday where I spent all my time caring for the need of others and thus had not a moment spared to put together a 'coiffed, perfectly maquillée and accessorised ensemble'.

It is au naturale and minimalist but sometime necessity calls for such simplistic measures.

Ubiquitous Maman chic !

I had the brilliant idea of changing background for today's photos because quite frankly I was getting a bit fed up with my apartment as an incumbent background.

I chose my kids' school playground, how fitting seeing is that I named my blog as 'my fashion playground'. Petit Suisse was the designated photographer again because Shrek my hubby is a reluctant and non too keen or non-enthusiast when it comes to being given the all important task of photographing, shame really because he could have been the partner in crime I so crave and needed. Let me see if I can be more persuasive to this end.

Petit Suisse is also as reluctant and reticent as his dad but I had no choice and hence he was left with no choice as well.
I have to make a comment re one of the photos having my Lil Miss Feisty (the baby of my clan) in the frame. It just goes to show you can take the maman out of the equation but you cannot take the ubiquitous offsprings' presence out of the maman as they did indeed follow me into my so called 'personal fashion blog' where it is supposed to be about 'me the woman' and not 'me the everyday maman'.

Dressing inappropriately for my age

My outfit today is inspired by grannies who dress like half their age, snicker, snicker...

I am only 32 so I consider within my age range and fundamental rights to dress un peu hookerish. I do admit to teetering between the blur line of vulgar and class. I do however lend a touch of class to whatever I happen to be wearing (as dictated by my exuding self-confidence) and consider myself classy. I will hold onto the shreds of my youth for as long as I possibly can without resorting to being trashy and vulgar. The bottom line and my primordial concern is that I look good and to hell with fashion trends. My style is eclectic and I love vintage pieces.

I would wear the shorter than short cut-off denim shorts without the stockings when I hit the beach for example because showing skin on a beach is oh so new.

Cut off denim shorts : No Name (yes that really is the name of the brand)

Yellow

My colour scheme today is sunny yellow. My fourth day of this 30-for-30 project has proved to be fulfilling and a great economiser as I have to stave away from shopping. I do gawk at windows but alas I resist and desist temptations thereby staying true to the spirit of remixing.

The series of photos were taken by my darling oldest boy Petit Suisse. He is tentatively developing camera skills but I am none too keen as yet as he still does not know the meaning of framing and focus and subject. He tends to take photos with tons of crap and by the end of the project hopefully he would have learnt a thing or two re photo taking.

I used to think that my enemies were leggings, opaque stockings and skinny jeans but now I have come full circle and realise that they are great at showing off my figure and I have acquired leggings, opaque and sheer stockings and best of all skinny jeans and slacks/trousers/pants in the whole rainbow spectrum.

Day 3

One of the black dresses I have put off wearing because I was too busy breastfeeding my four petits mioches for the longest time until well recently. Weaning has always been a drag in my world. My prolonged breastfeeding meant that I had to forgo any and all outfits that rendered it difficult to pull down at the whim of a screaming and hungry baby.

I am now so content that I finally am able to wear whatever the hell I want without regard for whether this outfit will make breastfeeding impossible.

I will definitely remix this dress so as to creatively wear it !

Day 2

I had some difficulties with the photo taking exercise because although we have 4 cameras lying about, all their batteries were flat meaning I had to wait... I took a self-timed shot which had my head cut out, way to stay anonymous. It was not due to me being shy but rather my poor camera setting up skill. I still have to perfect my tripod set up and technique.

I also had to enlist the help of Petit Suisse, my eldest and the results of photos taken by him are in no way a good measure of my posing skill. He is only eight after all and I cannot expect him to perfect the art of taking pictures when his dad Shrek himself is still fiddling around with it.

Playing with fashion and my camera...

I stuck to basics today with skinny pants and a figure hugging boat-neck top. The remixing has yet to start because I am basically putting together fresh outfits, no mix as yet but be patient, that's all coming.

30-for-30

So I decided to lancer with the first of my 30-for-30 remixing.

No clothes or shoes shopping for 30 days. The idea of working with what I have in my wardrobe excites me as I will be forced by necessity to stick to what I have and to really work with what I've got...no going around it.

I do have ideas of what suits me and most of the time I do not follow trends and modes blindly. I do however try on different outfits and wear what suits me best which I think is reasonably simple enough.

I have set the engine running so to speak so let's get on with it. My first outfit to mark my first foray into fashion blogging.

Demuring in a classy and classic black dress paired with red shoes, fuschia flower hairpin and a patterned bolero.
